Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - Wednesday, October 25, 2006
Description:
Join experts from The Conservation Fund in an engaging program designed to provide strategies for development that make communities attractive for investment, create better places to live, and protect and enhance your community’s unique sense of place. Based on the Better Models for Development in Pennsylvania publication by Ed McMahon and Shelley Mastran, this half-day workshop will help you manage growth and development
issues by highlighting choices and providing tools and strategies for a more thoughtful win-win approach to new development and redevelopment.
The session will introduce six principles for Better Models for Developmentin Pennsylvania and will reveal the secrets that successful communities use to shape the location, form, and pattern of development. The program will help you translate the principles into practice by sharing effective strategies for communicating about community development choices, and tools for implementing better models through a host of planning tools and
resources including education, incentives, and voluntary initiatives, as well as codes and ordinances. The interactive program will include discussion on solutions to your development challenges that ensure a good economic, environmental, and community outcome.
