Trail Building and Maintenance Techniques-Using Lightly on the Land Principles

Description:
This workshop will show how to use the Student Conservation Associations (SCA) Lightly on the Land Manual and will discuss SCA's trail building and maintenance philosophies. Every participant will receive a copy on the Lightly on the Land Manual. Topics covered in this part classroom and part hands on on the trail workshop will be: safety, tools, measuring distances and grades, survey and design, construction, drainage, maintenance, building with rock, building with timber and felling and bucking (some chainsaw/crosscut talk) , revegetation and restoration, and working with volunteers/kids.
