Susquehanna Greenway Selects Consultant for Strategic Action Plan

Description:
The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership has selected Greenways, Inc., of Durham, North Carolina, for the development of Susquehanna Greenway Strategic Action Plan. “It was a long and difficult selection process and it came down to a hard decision between three well qualified teams, but we are confident that Greenways, Inc., is the right choice for the particular needs of the Susquehanna Greenway project,” said committee chairperson Scott Standish.

The strategic action plan is the narrative complement to the Greenway conceptual design, and will address abroad range of topics including Greenway benefits, issues and concerns, and Greenway strategies such as organizational framework, marketing and promotion, and plan integration with other existing state and agency initiatives. The plan will also identify prioritized demonstration projects, i.e., examples of diverse greenway projects distributed from throughout the river corridor.

Greenways, Inc., and its team partner EDAW of Alexandria, Virginia, is no stranger to the Keystone State, with working experience on the Pennsylvania Statewide Greenway Plan, the Luzerne and Lackawanna County Greenway and Open Space Plan, and the Pittsburgh to Harrisburg Mainline Canal Greenway. Chuck Flink, President of Greenways, Inc., says, “We are very excited about starting work on the Susquehanna Greenway strategic plan, and being involved in the largest and most significant greenway project of its kind in the country.” The strategic action plan is expected to be completed in a year and will be unveiled at a riverfront conference scheduled for June 2005, in Harrisburg.
